Using Microsoft Word to Create and Edit Posts

Mr. Hogan alerted me to a cool addition to Microsoft Word that blogger has created that will allow you to create, edit, and post articles directly from Word instead of online, giving you a lot more formatting options. You do have to download and install a plug in from blogger here.

Click on the link that says "Agree and Download". You will see this box


Click Ok and wait for the download to finish. Once again, find the file called BloggerforWordSetup.exe on your desktop and install the add on to Word.

Once you are finished installing, open up Microsoft Word on your computer. A new toolbar should appear


Now you need to input your username and password so that Word can communicate directly with your blog online. To do this, click on the "Blogger Settings" button. A box will pop up for you to input your information.


Once you've entered your username and password, click Ok. The rest is self explanatory (hopefully, haha, email me, seriously :)) Click on Open Post to create a new post, and click on Publish Post to enter a title and publish your post directly to the internet. Pretty cool, huh? Ok I'm tired, it's late at night and blogging is addicting suddenly. I can't seem to pull myself away...

Picasa 2.0 - Organize and Share Photos

My last post showed how to insert photos into your blog using the "add picture" option. Now I'm going to show you how to use free software called Picasa to organize all the photos on your computer and easily share them on any of your blogs on www.blogger.com

First you need to download the software from google by clicking here.

After you click, if you are using Firefox for internet, this box should appear


Click ok and wait for the download to complete. Once it is complete, find the file named picasa2-current.exe on your desktop and double click on it to start the installation process. Once you've installed it, the program will scan your computer for any media (picture & video) files on your computer and display them.

Adding Photos To Your Blogs

Several people have asked me to show them how to add photos to their blogs. There are several ways to do this. I'll share a couple simple ways I've found to add photos to your blogs to make them more useful for you.

Both ways involve clicking on the icon in your edit box that looks like a picture.
After you click once on the icon, a new box will pop up.


You now have two options for adding a photo to your blog:
1. Add an image from your computer
2. Add an image from the web

When you click on the browse button to add a photo straight from your computer, another new box will pop up.

"browsing" your computers files will allow you to specify the place on your computer where your photo is located. Once you find your photo, click the "Open" button. You now have several formatting options. Once you are satisfied, click upload image and your photo will be added.

To add a photo that you find from a website, you type in the address to the photo that you found on the internet, and click on upload photo.
